Dear Don West,
I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay last month at your hotel. We will be back and we are telling people about your wonderful place and hope they will go as well.
The room was great, the service was just unbelievably nice and we felt very welcome.
Thank you so much for running such a wonderful place,
Birgit and Edwin Miranda (June 2010)
Good Morning Mr West,
Your facilities are amazing, from the river views to the plush decor of your rooms. But the reason I am taking the time to write you is to let you know about the amazing service I received over and over during my time there. Justin, Sally, Kathleen, and Jaime went above and beyond to make each weeks visit special. They each knew me by name and made a special effort to check in with me each time I saw them to make sure everything was meeting my expectations. Jaime even looked ahead on the schedule for the days that I was there to bring me and iron & ironing board prior to my calling and requesting. It is unusual these days to receive this kind of special service and they deserve to be commended.
Thanks to all for everything!
Sincerely,
Trina, Washington County Courts (May 2010)
Hi,
My husband and I just spent our anniversary at the Cannery Pier Hotel on May 16th. We love your hotel, it is just amazing to enjoy the beautiful river views and the beauty of the room. Your staff are always the best, they are friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need.
I called ahead of time to request a bottle of champagne in our room to surprise my husband. The presentation was beautiful and the champagne was great. We wanted to thank you for the extra special touch and for the great service we know we will have. We cannot wait to visit again.
Thank you so much for helping make our stay so special.

Great view, great staff, no fake smiles, just excellent service. You could tell the owner cares about every detail, made with love of the craft, amazing experience.

I am writing to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at Cannery Pier Hotel for three nights earlier this month. There is an old expression: "You only have one chance to make a good first impression." When my husband booked the room our reservation with Allison he was very impressed by her efficient, but welcoming manner. She was also very helpful in following up on a problem we had at one of the local restaurants as it had been recommended by the hotel. We found this same standard of food service with the rest of the staff & though I don’t recall their names, it included everyone at the front desk, the driver of you vintage car & the maid who cleaned our suite.
Cannery Pier Hotel is first class in every way & we shall look forward to our next visit. Our warmest regards & best wishes for your continued success.
Mr. & Mrs. James, (April 2010)
We had a perfect experience once again at the Cannery Pier Hotel. We always do. Deanna was simply splendid about helping us during our stay. We are grateful to her too.

We wish to thank you and your staff for the great weekend at the Cannery Pier Hotel.
You do an outstanding job of making sure your guests feel special when they stay with you. The two ladies who are school teachers get A pluses at the front desk. Sorry, we only remember Lori Carlson's name because it is close to my name. Also, the young lady who checked us out also represents you at the hotel's finest. In addition, the two gentlemen "working in the kitchen, etc." are great.
We thank you and your staff for remembering our wedding anniversary with a bottle of wine.
Sincerely,
Lorilee, (January 2010)
We stayed at the Cannery Pier Hotel this past December and what a deal. We had heard about this hotel from friends and never really thought too much about it except one of our neighbors gets their news letter and told us about package they were running. We checked in and I have to tell you that our friends were right. From the moment we arrived till the time we left everything was just great. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and I am amazed at the wonderful staff. They are friendly, efficient and seem very interested in us having a good time while we were there. We loved the ship traffic and really enjoyed reading the book (part of the package). I highly recommend the Cannery Pier Hotel to everyone I know just like my neighbor did for me.
Thanks,

Thank you for a great visit...
We stayed at CPH for the first two nights of our Oregon Honeymoon, and there could not have been a better way to start the journey. After a long day of traveling from the East Coast, we arrived just in time for our massages at the adjoining spa. What an indulgence! After 12 hours of travel, nothing could have been better. But then, we walk out of the massage to the wine and cheese reception in the lobby. NOW it was perfect: a glass of wine, seats on the deck jutting out into the Columbia, the sun playing on the mountains across the river. After a wonderful meal at the nearby Bistro and a good night’s sleep, we spent the next morning exploring Astoria thanks to the easy ride on your complimentary cruiser bikes. Such fun. Thank you to the entire staff for a great visit. We will be back.

Good Morning Mr. West,
I just wanted to take a quick moment to share with you what I feel was a great experience I recently had during a stay with the Cannery Pier Hotel.
I arrived just short of missing my colleagues that were also staying at the hotel before they left for dinner at 6pm sharp. As I was checked in by David, he let me know they had gone to dinner at the Bistro and provided directions on walking there. After checking in, I quickly unpacked and then made my way across the parking lot to the Bistro to join my colleges.
To my surprise, they weren't there. The manager at the Bistro mentioned he had seen a large group of people board the trolley. No big deal. I would just get dinner on my own. I began walking back to the hotel deciding if I wanted to order in or go somewhere else. While walking back, David pulled up in one of the hotels classic cars. He immediately apologized for the confusion in thinking they had gone to dinner at the Bistro. He stated he had confirmed with another hotel employee that they had taken the trolley to the Seafood Center.
He exited the vehicle and came about saying he would drive me there and to add effect, opened the back door as to chauffeur me the entire way, once again aplogizing and letting me know it was his job to make it right for me - I didn't even believe that there was a wrong, but now I definitely was grateful and felt it was an above and beyond service experience that was being provided. The rest of the entire staff was fantastic as well, but David's service merits additional mention and I hope you are pleased and proud of this service experience by one of your employees.
I look forward to hopefully another future stay with you.
Thank you and best of continued success to the hotel.

We had not planned on staying more than one night at anyone place during our motorcycle tour of the Pacific coast, but after staying one night at the Cannery Pier Hotel we changed our plans. The views, the staff, the accommodations and the old cars were awesome!
We will be looking forward to our next visit at The Cannery Pier Hotel.
Thanks,

Dear Cannery Pier Hotel Management and Staff,
As I sit in my room, enjoying the last few hours of my visit in Astoria, I am compelled to share with you my gratitude for the experience of staying at the Cannery Pier Hotel. As an avid writer for www.tripadvisor.com, I also shared the details of my experience in a written review of the hotel on that website.
Arriving at 11pm on a Tuesday night, the Cannery Pier Hotel was a beacon of beauty along the Columbia River in Astoria, Oregon. Our arrival, although late in the evening, was greeted with a smile. The architecture and unique style of the hotel are beautiful, matched only by its great service and attention to detail by the staff. Having traveled many places around the world and visiting many hotels along the way, I can honestly say that our stay at the Cannery Pier Hotel was absolutely exceptional by all standards. The staff, particularly Lori and Lisa, made it their personal mission to accommodate any request we had, including researching hiking trails, making all of our dinner reservations, bringing us cookies and drinks...and they probably would have done our laundry had we asked. Most impressive was their response when I told them that my husband had not seen The Goonies, a great 1985 movie that was filmed in Astoria. Lori called every place in the county, drove around on her time off, and finally sent her son out on a mission to find the movie...which he did! We enjoyed watching the movie on the 2nd floor of the hotel where there is a DVD player and great, comfy chairs. As if that were not enough, Lori brought us some fresh baked cookies while we were watching the movie. There are many examples just like this, where Lori and Lisa (and the other staff) were graciously attentive, as if we were the only guests in the hotel. The hotel was full, but we never noticed because of the service of the staff.
Each morning, there is a great breakfast served in the lobby (waffles, hard
boiled eggs, donuts, instant oatmeal, fruit salad, bagels, muffins, juice).
There is coffee available 24 hours per day. At 5pm, wine, cheese, snacks
are served followed by fresh baked cookies every evening. There is a
newspaper at your door each morning.
Our favorite service at the hotel are the old, fancy cars that are available
to take guests to and from their dinner reservations. Each night, we
enjoyed being chauffeured to and from dinner by very personable drivers
(Devin and David) who are eager to share their knowledge of things to do in
Astoria...tip them well! Reserve your time in the morning to have access to
the busiest hours in the evening.
We also enjoyed the use of the fitness facility and the laundry facility.
Although we chose to run the waterfront and hike the mountain trails as
recreation, there are guests who really enjoyed using the old-fashioned
bikes located on the deck. Finally, our room was perfect. The comfortable
bed, fire place, bath tub with views of the river, and very spacious sitting
area all made our brief time in our room very pleasurable.
What was a 2 night stay, turned into 6 night stay. We loved Astoria and our
experience at the Cannery Pier Hotel greatly contributed to our fabulous
getaway. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Astoria. This hotel
is above reproach and its staff goes above and beyond the call of duty to
deliver exceptional service and a personal touch that is matched by no other
travel experience I have had...it's simply spectacular! Lori, Lisa, Devin,
and David are amazing ambassadors for the Cannery Pier Hotel and Astoria!
Their professionalism and service-oriented demeanor is unique...they are a
delight and certainly make the difference between a good and an exceptional
experience! Bravo!
Thanks for a great visit,
Allyson (August 2009)
Dear Don,
I just wanted to let you know how great our stay with at CPH was last week.
You have great people who took excellent care of us, especially Lori who made white chocolate chip cookies just for me/us. We got back to the hotel after eating and walking around late (10:30- 11:00 PM), when we walked into the lobby we smelled cookies and asked if we could have one Lori said someone just ate the last one. But she turned the oven back on and made a couple just for us.
The Only thing different I would like to see, is some recycling containers (or combination trash/recycling containers) near the main entry. I recognize you deal with people from all over and everyone has a different comfort level & understanding of recycling, so it may be an up hill battle.
Thanks again,
Michael (June 2009)
The Cannery Pier Hotel is a GREAT PLACE to stay that we lucked into on our Astoria trip! They are pet friendly and have outstanding facilities and service! Sara-Bella ( our Pomeranian) even got her own basket of complimentary goodies!!! The freighters and barges go right by your window and the hotel provides a list of ships coming in and going out. There is a fireplace and a claw foot tub that add to the experience. The staff could not have been nicer! Very Kool!!!

Hello Don,
It is not often that I take the time to sit down and write a note giving feedback about much of anything now and days. It seems as though most places you go to have a very C grade customer service attitude. Fine is just that...fine. I have worked in the service industry for over 20 years myself and have never felt that fine is fine.
That brings me to your hotel. My husband and I spent last Saturday and Sunday nights at the Hotel. It was our first time going away just the two of us for more than an overnight by ourselves in 12 years. Needless to say, we were hoping to have a fabulous time in the short time alotted. We could not have picked a better destination.
From the moment we checked in till the moment we checked out, we felt every bit the important person and pampered guest that we had hoped for. The room was simply stunning. The view of the river from every place in the room was just fantastic. After getting settled we went down for the lovely wine, cheese and lox reception where we also took the opportunity to make dinner reservations and sign up for the chauffeur service to our destination. What luxury being driven to dinner and having David waiting for us after we had finished! It was truly my husbands favorite part of the weekend. He loved the car!
All of your staff went above and beyond for us, and there was always a feeling of calm and joy in the main areas of the Hotel. We also very much enjoyed the mini museum on the 2nd floor. It is always lovely to see history in such a wonderful way.
I have not stopped talking about our trip with friends and colleagues. We will happily return to your fine establishment at some point and continue to sing its praises to anyone who will listen.
Thank you for putting the A+ back into Customer Service.
Best,
Heather Scheer
