You can't get much closer to the water than this: the upscale Cannery Pier Hotel actually juts about 600 feet into the Columbia River. Designed by Astoria native Robert Jacob, the hotel honors the history of the original Union Fisherman's Cooperative Packing Company Cannery on its original dock site while providing all the amenities of a luxury boutique hotel.
