Something Beautiful Is Building: Final Phase of a Holistic Renovation
Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa, an iconic luxury hotel built on century-old pier pilings extending 600 feet into the Columbia River, completed the first phase of its holistic transformation in March 2022. The reimagined renovation touches nearly every aspect of the hotel, keeping the one thing that cannot be improved – the magnificent view in every room and everywhere in the hotel. Cannery Pier will create a new level of service with enhancements that include complete renovations to the hotel's guest rooms, a wholly reimagined fitness studio, upgraded event spaces, a Hall of History expanded with exhibits paying homage to Astoria’s unique history as the former salmon and tuna canneries capital of the world and the hotel’s connection to the community. The hotel also features local artists from its inaugural “Icon of Astoria” contest with the winning art pieces displayed at the hotel.
The Arrival Experience
The excitement continues with the Final Phase to complete and create a new and immersive stay experience. Guests will enjoy a memorable arrival experience when guests are greeted at the entrance with an original bronze monument “The Big Catch” created from an antique photo of a cannery worker. The anticipation with the captivating coastal landscaping along the pier signaling that this is no ordinary hotel. As guests enter the hotel it reveals a magnificent view of the Columbia River as they are greeted with a warm welcome -- this is just the beginning of the journey of a memorable stay experience.
Introducing Bar 600
The hotel will also add a new bar, aptly named Bar 600 will be in the lobby where the Columbia River’s current collides with the Pacific Ocean. The hotel bar will offer classic cocktails, regional wines, craft beers, and anything drink concoction desired. As a perfect accompaniment, the hotel’s new kitchen will offer oyster shooters, small plates, seasonal boards, and delicious flatbread. Bar 600 will be a destination to kickstart the day or the last stop for a perfect ending to the night.
The Spa at Cannery Pier Hotel
The Spa at Cannery Pier Hotel will be completely redesigned with upgrades throughout including a soothing relaxation lounge with a front row seat view of the Astoria-Megler Bridge and the Columbia River. The Spa will be thoroughly updated to provide guests the best service and experience with expanded retail offering Aveda popular products as well as featuring goods from local artisans. The Spa will continue to offer its popular mineral hot tub and Finnish sauna.

The hotel will be open during the renovation from November 1– Dec 23, 2022. Take advantage of the hotel’s “Pardon Our Dust” rates during this time. Complimentary Continental breakfast and wine hour will be provided during this time with modified services. The hotel’s signature vintage car service will be available as usual nightly from 5 pm – 9 pm/10 pm on weekends to take guests to and from local restaurants and bars downtown.
